Glass Cookware
Glass cookware is an excellent choice if you are willing to take proper care of it. In general, glass cookware is very durable, dishwasher safe, microwave safe and healthy. But in some situations you need to be very careful with it. First of all it's a glass, so it can break if you hit it or put something heavy on top. But what is more important is that in most cases you can't put from fridge to oven and from oven to fridge. Like most substances on the planet, glass expands or shrinks a little when temperature changes. Unlike metal, glass doesn't distribute heat fast. So what happens if one part of the glass cookware expands, and the rest of the pan does not? The pan material gets stressed. Stressed metal warps. Stressed glass shatters. The gold rule for glass pan is that it has to be heated and cooled evenly. Most common mistake is adding cold water to the hot glass pan. Please be carefull with that. Buying glass cookware |
